Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua says there is an alleged plot to assassinate him, linking it to the withdrawal of his security detail and subsequent attack during a funeral service in Limuru, Kiambu County.
Gachagua, in an interview with NTV on Sunday night, described the withdrawal of his security detail as a “deliberate and well-planned” move to expose him to danger.
He claimed his security team was reassigned immediately after a concert in Murang’a which left him unprotected.
“A carefully worked-out scheme to take my life was hatched, starting with the withdrawal of my security detail,” he stated.
The events culminated on Thursday at the funeral of a young man named Erastus Nduati where goons disrupted the service, attacking mourners with stones, machetes, iron bars and sticks.
